Storage Tips

Store the homemade ranch dressing mix in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. For the best flavor, use within 3 months, but it can last up to 6 months.

How much mix should I use per batch of dressing?

Generally, use 2 tablespoons of the ranch dressing mix per 1 cup of base (such as mayonnaise, and/or sour cream, and buttermilk). Adjust to taste if you prefer a stronger or milder flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons (4 g) dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon (2 g) dried dill
  • 1 tablespoon (8 g) garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon (8 g) onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon (6 g) dried minced onion
  • 2 teaspoons (1 g) dried chives
  • 2 teaspoons (12 g) salt, or adjust to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon (½ g) ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Combine the ingredients in a small bowl.
    2 tablespoons (4 g) dried parsley
    1 tablespoon (2 g) dried dill
    1 tablespoon (8 g) garlic powder
    1 tablespoon (8 g) onion powder
    1 tablespoon (6 g) dried minced onion
    2 teaspoons (1 g) dried chives
    2 teaspoons (12 g) salt
    ¼ teaspoon (½ g) ground black pepper
  • Whisk together until all the ingredients are well blended.
  • Transfer the mix to an airtight container or a spice jar.
  • Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

To Make Ranch Dressing:

  • In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the ranch dressing mix with 1 cup (240 ml) of mayonnaise and ¼-½ cup (60-120 ml) of buttermilk.
  • Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
