Dipping Sauces for Sweet Potato Fries
These 3 quick dipping sauces for sweet potato fries are full of bold flavor. No mayo, no fuss, and done in just a few minutes.
Best Sweet Potato Fries Dipping Sauce
John is the sweet potato fry lover in our house. Whenever I make him a batch, they’re lightly seasoned with a bit of sea salt. Sometimes I’ll add some black pepper, smoked paprika, or garlic powder, but there’s always a dipping sauce!
He loves big flavor but nothing too spicy, and I prefer a sweeter dipping sauce. That’s why we have three options.
There’s a smoky chipotle dip, a sweet and spicy mustard sauce, and a sweet and creamy cinnamon dip.
These three sauces are quick, no-cook, and great for every flavor mood. You don’t need fancy ingredients, just stuff you probably already have.
Tips for Sweet Potato Fries Sauce
- Soften your cream cheese: Cold cream cheese will make the cinnamon dip lumpy. Make sure it is really soft before mixing.
- Adjust the heat: All three dips are on the mild side when prepared as written. If you like more spice, add extra sriracha, adobo sauce, or a pinch of cayenne.
- Thin if needed: Want a thinner sauce? Just stir in a little more milk, some lemon juice, or even olive oil depending on the dip.
- Use what you have: Swap sour cream with Greek yogurt, or use mayonnaise in the chipotle version if that’s what you have available.
- Taste and tweak: All of these are super customizable. Add more maple for sweetness, extra mustard for tanginess, or cinnamon for warmth. They’re easy to adjust based your tastes.
What’s the best dipping sauce for sweet potato fries?
That depends on your mood. Want something sweet? Go with the cinnamon dip. Savory? Chipotle or spicy maple. These all pair well with air fryer fries, baked fries, or even fried sweet potato fries.
Is there a dipping sauce without mayo?
Yep. All three of these are mayo-free. We used cream cheese, sour cream, or mustard instead.
Can I use yogurt instead of sour cream?
You sure can. Plain Greek yogurt works well in the chipotle dip. It makes it a little tangier with a stronger flavor. You may need to use an extra chipotle pepper or more adobo sauce.
What else goes with sweet potato fries?
Try seasoning your fries with chili powder, paprika, or garlic powder before baking. Or serve them with grilled chicken, turkey burgers, or as a side with sliders. They’re also great topped with a little crumbled bacon or feta.
How to Store Sweet Potato Fry Dipping Sauce
Each of these dipping sauces can be made ahead of time. Just store them in airtight containers in the fridge.
- Cinnamon Dip: Stores for up to 5 days. Make sure to stir before serving.
- Maple Mustard: Good for up to 1 week.
- Chipotle Dip: Stores well for about 3 to 4 days. The flavors get even better after a few hours.
None of these dips freeze well, so just make sure to eat them within a few days.
