Combine butter, green chiles, garlic & salt in a small bowl.
Cut bread in diagonal rows. Rotate & repeat, forming diamond slits in the loaf.
Loosen the bread & spread the butter mixture on the inside of the loaf.
Tuck pieces of cheese inside the open spaces.
Tightly wrap in foil & bake for 20 minutes. Unwrap & bake until the outside is crisp.
